Tooting My Own Horn

I have a new pattern out!  The Lace and Vine Sock pattern I designed for Bijou Basin Ranch is now available for purchase on their website

Here's a better view of the vine:

Awhile back, I took some pictures for Marly of a piece she'd designed for a magazine.  Designers don't always get their original pieces back, so she wanted some pictures of it before she sent it off.  My sister-in-law modeled it, I snapped a few pictures, and off it went.  As it turned the magazine editors like the pictures I had taken, and asked if they could reprint them!  So in Inside Crochet #8, on newstands now, you can see Natalie wearing the Beaded Belt, which can also be worn as a scarf or on your head like so:

And finally, a few weeks ago I showed you a peek of this sweater that I'd been working on when my dad had a heart attack.  Marly designed this sweater, also for Bijou Basin Ranch, and sent me charts for all the pieces, but I had a hand in designing the hood.  She told me she wanted the cable to continue up the back, and the texture on the sides, and I went from there and interpreted what I thought would look right.  The braid next to the button band also goes up around the edge of the hood.  My needles were madly flying all the way to the hospital and back, and all the rest of the night, and I got to Marly's house just as she was leaving for TNNA.  Luckily the hood turned out how she'd pictured also, and she madly knit the button band on during the flight to the show!  (My dad is doing well, also.)

This pattern is currently in the test-knit phase; by the time the pattern is complete, we'll have better lit pictures, too.  I would have loved to end up with this sweater to wear, but it is slightly too small for me.  On the other hand, since the sweater was not for me, I was released from agonizing about which yarn to use, how much it cost, and whether it would fit!

Karen, has it really been less than 2 years since you started knitting? And here you are, designing items and getting them published! Wow! And that's a lovely sweater!

Both are beautiful! And the new red and white color scheme. It is a new color scheme right? I haven't been by for a while, maybe I am hallucinating...but anyway, I like red and white. And I like the socks, and the sweater is incredible!
