March Photo Scavenger Hunt

I'm way behind, aren't I?  I didn't realize I hadn't posted March's pictures.  I guess I'll have to post the April pictures tomorrow and hopefully I'll get to the May pictures before the end of the month!  a lion a rainbow  something green  an empty chair  something sentimental This bomber jacket belonged to my grandpa, Ray, who was a pilot in WWII.  He painted a bomb on the back for every mission he flew with the crew of The Miss-Fitt.  He said the only time the plane was shot was when he was on leave and someone else was flying it!  He passed away several years ago and now my sister has the jacket. peeling paint a collection a ring My wedding ring, and the ring my grandmother wore. a fancy gate a shadow something as old as I am (baby book) a lamb (well, as close as I found)

Paper Boat

It's rained so much the last few days that you could float a paper boat in the buckets that a boy left out to catch rain water.

Someone Else Needs a Miracle

I was going to tell you all about my awesome day shooting photos with my friend Amber.  But when I logged on to Blogger to post here, I saw my friend Stephanie had updated her blog.  Today, I would rather direct you to her blog and the loss that has struck her family, and ask you to pray for her nephew, Garrett.  To get the whole story, scroll down to Stephanie's post entitled Please....

May Rushing By

Mother's Day

I have been planning to write some blog posts about the artists in my family and ending with a grand finale of my mom , who, despite her modesty and lack of venues to apply her talents, is really pretty artistic.  (If you've known my mom very long, you know where I get my mad skills, right, Teresa?)  However, I have not gotten to those posts so I will just take this opportunity to tell you about my mom in general.  I don't want to get too mushy but I think you'll see how great she is without me having to go too far in that direction.  My mom has played the piano for many more years than I've been alive, and taught me to play.  From the age of about four until I was old enough to join the band at school, and switched to flute, my mom gave me piano lessons.  In junior high, I had a teacher who also happened to be the school choir director.  When she found out my mom played piano, she asked if my mom would play for the choir when they performed in concerts, and my

In Very Local News...

Apparently we have turkey vultures nesting on our street, and I don't mean just two!  They are pretty big for neighborhood birds.  BFJ told me that the only way he'd be happier is if they were living in our tree.  No thanks, I like my cats.  I do think it is kind of funny that they are nesting in this particular spot; this lot, which is probably about a fifth of an acre, has upwards of fifty trees - and a house, of course.  I'm surprised nothing like this has happened before!  Do you see them both?

God bless America, land that I love.

Happy May Day!

I usually really enjoy April but this year it was brutal!  We had several rounds of strep and infections and more rain than I can remember having in April for a long time.  The rain is good but the garden's been muddy and not much has been planted.  Between contract knitting and photo sessions (six, at least!) I haven't had much time to edit my own pictures or blog.  I do like taking pictures, though, for just about any reason.  I am behind on the scavenger hunt but I did see the royal wedding live.  And now only four weeks of school left!  I see my priorities shifting this week, though, and -hopefully- lots getting done.  I'll post my scavenger hunt pictures once I get done sorting through them.  Come back soon!
