I recently met someone that BFJ has known since high school.  After exploring his strange and wonderful house, which includes two different pairs of pet pheasants, handcrafted knives, and a treehouse above the roof, I left with a little handful of treasures.  One day they'll adorn some handmade hats:   


On a completely different note, the sage is doing wonderfully... 



We visited my parents last week, and I had a fun little walk with Zoom and the camera...



In the garden at our house, I neglected to harvest this onion from Candace last year; now it's about ready to bloom!

    As always, your pictures are gorgeous Karen. BFJ's friend sounds VERY interesting -- did you take pics of the treehouse?

    Did you take pictures of the house, Karen? It must be fantastic! Don't know if I would want pheasants as pets, though! We have some at the aviary down the street and they like to "screech" at all hours - lol! You can harvest the seeds from the onions and have starts for next year!

    don't know you but I like your sense of style and photography and we have many similar interests, photography, food, sewing, books, I have 4kids.
    I particularly liked your ironing board recover, I love the nautical print and that you actually just did it! I've been thinking about it for about 10 years but now I just might get it done! Thanks!

reasons I knit

modular knitting

On the plus side, modular knitting gives one interesting options for colorwork and color blocking.  Sometimes the dye process can give the yarn its own commentary, like this changing of scales. However, there are often many more ends to weave in.  This one is not too bad, but there's at least four ends on every row - 14 rows.  Still, interesting to try something new! Details on my Ravelry page , if you are interested!!  Have you tried modular knitting?  Thumbs up or down??

Spring Means Baseball!

I've had this idea for a knitting pattern in my head and it's finally come to fruition!  I am still polishing up the pattern, but here's a quick peak:  PS:  There's more than one size and this one is too big for me but it was the only one I had "stitched up."
