Go Rockies!!!

So far, the Rockies have not lost a game!!  If you need some baseball knitting to keep you company while you watch a game, I finished my pattern  and put it up for sale on Ravelry a couple of days ago!

Spring Means Baseball!

I've had this idea for a knitting pattern in my head and it's finally come to fruition!  I am still polishing up the pattern, but here's a quick peak:  PS:  There's more than one size and this one is too big for me but it was the only one I had "stitched up."

Tidbits

Happy St. Patrick's Day!  We've had a busy weekend and I didn't get any good green pictures so this will have to do:  sweet potato vine and coleus from last year's summer pots.  Lots of lovely greens! Thank you all for commenting on your favorite books; lots of great recommendations.  I picked the next book for the book club, Possession by A.S. Byatt.  I've read it before but it's been a long time.  Once, I was discussing books with one of BFJ's best friends and he was listening so intently to me about this book, I couldn't believe it.  Finally he said, "So... no one gets possessed?"  Ha! no wonder; it's not that kind of possession, its about (fictitious) writers.  Anyway, I look forward to exploring all the books that are your favorites.  And I would just like to say that I would have responded to your comments directly but most of the comments did not have return emails.  Although Shawn, I neglected to reply to you ....

More

I've taken more than 600 pictures for Bijou Basin this weekend!   I hope you can humor me, I just had to share a few more.  Of course the minute I typed that it hadn't yet snowed (Thursday), and hit "post," it started to snow!  If you click on my snowy geraniums above, you can see the beautiful little snowflakes.  Thursday was cold and snowy; thankfully, Friday was mild and sunny for Photo Shoot Day.  Yesterday, we woke up to 20 degree weather and more snow falling, (brrrr!!) and cancelled our family trip to Miller Farm.  Everyone had been looking forward to it, but it just didn't seem fair to make the boys trudge through the mud in the cold, just so Mommy could have more squash.  Today, was cloudy and cool, but not nearly as frigid as yesterday.  My brother and his family came over for dinner and we enjoyed watching the Broncos continue to astound football fans everywhere.  (The use of the term "dinner...

Happy September!

PS How happy are we to have Giambi ?

Over the Weekend

I spent all Saturday reshooting some photos. HOW FRUSTRATING. I hate it when pictures don't come out as clients expect. On the other hand, I did some pictures for Marly , who gave me complete artistic freedom, and they turned out just as planned: Marly Socks Gerri Hat ... both modeled by my lovely and helpful sister. You can get patterns on Marly's website, if you are interested. Sunday was Easter, of course, and we spent some nice time at church and with both families. I am also test knitting for Marly. Hey, I'm trusted with someone else's projects! And Marly knows my skills pretty well; I must not be too bad. I am making some Dual Cable Fingerless Gloves, companions to her Dual Cable Hat . I am knitting with some Bijou Basin yarn. It didn't occur to me until I had been working for hours just how nice it really is to knit with. No sore finger. I have one cuff done, working on the second; the rest should go pretty quick. Hey no problem, I mean, I have til next Mond...

Change

Things are strange around here. It has been unseasonably warm. I knew that we'd have some warm days this spring, and I had in mind to touch up the paint on my shed, and some other non-plant garden and yard items when we had these days. However, I haven't been able to get to those things. We've had a lot of stuff going on at our house; primarily, my sister is moving in with us. She's single, still a bit more portable than the rest of us, and thought it would be a good time to take a break from rent while she looks for something to buy. She is going to be staying in what has been my craft room / guest room. I don't really have any good place to put all my stuff, but she deserves a room to herself, right? So I was forced to take a long look at all the projects I have started and not finished, as I took out one stack at a time. And they aren't all quilting projects; I have beads and scrapbooking stuff, painting, and so on. I am actually looking forward to getting i...

Looking Forward

Oooh I felt bad leaving you with that eye-sore so here's something nicer, something else I look forward to in the spring:

Go Rockies! (Next Year)

I am a big baseball fan, but after the heartbreak of the last World Series, I haven't watched as much this year. I know, I know; you could argue that the Rockies weren't really World-Series-worthy, and there is the home plate debacle , but come on. Not even one game? As the second game was winding up, our Yankee friends had the nerve to say, "Don't feel bad. Being first in your league is like being tenth in our league." GASP! Nothing like kickin' a girl when she's down. But I don't hold it against them. Really. I swear. And by the way, if that's true, I blame the DH . I've known since early spring that there wasn't going to be a repeat League win for our team this year, and anyone could see that the Cubs were going to make it to the post season. Despite rooting against them at Coors Field this spring, I've been planning to root for them to go all the way. Wouldn't that be great if the Cubs played the White Sox in the World Series...
