Signs of Fall


After crawdad hunting last weekend, we picked acorns; you have to get them while they are green, around here. Last year, I discovered that if you wait til they turn brown, they are squirreled away, literally!
This evening, we went to a pep rally at the high school, then walked around town. There's a crispness in the air that makes me love a good sweater. I am taking a knitting class in a few weeks. My first! I keep seeing such cute socks and sweaters online. I am looking forward to making some for myself.
Well, I better get to bed early. Lots of fun stuff + housework for tomorrow, and if I'm lucky, I might get some piecing done.

    It is so cold tonight! Where are you going to take a knitting class? I keep thinking about taking one so I can make a scarf, but I haven't signed up for one yet. My mom tried to teach me last Christmas, but it didn't stick.

    Aw, the poor squirrels...denied! Though our Oak is being ravaged by a squirrel as I type. What are you going to do with all those acorns?

    Those poor squirrels! They will be so hungry this winter!
    My mom is making me a sweater and I can't wait till its done!

reasons I knit

modular knitting

On the plus side, modular knitting gives one interesting options for colorwork and color blocking.  Sometimes the dye process can give the yarn its own commentary, like this changing of scales. However, there are often many more ends to weave in.  This one is not too bad, but there's at least four ends on every row - 14 rows.  Still, interesting to try something new! Spring Means Baseball!

I've had this idea for a knitting pattern in my head and it's finally come to fruition!  I am still polishing up the pattern, but here's a quick peak:  PS:  There's more than one size and this one is too big for me but it was the only one I had "stitched up."
