Bread

I've re-written this post at least three times now.  I have so many things to blog about, they are competing with each other in my head and I keep making mistakes.  I'm just going to keep it simple.  I'm so fed up, I'm not even going to bother putting that link in the html.  I had some delicious bread at the wedding rehearsal dinner I went to a couple of weeks ago, and it has been on my mind since then.

We've been getting bread at local bakeries, lately, and BFJ wanted to check this one out, so we spent the afternoon in the Highland and LoHi neighborhoods.  Lots of great food there, including a bread shop, a cheese chop, a tea & bike (?) shop, a wine shop, a wine and coffee shop, a coffee shop, two places that serve New York style pizza, a gourmet cake shop, and a fantastic ice cream place.

One of the best things I had today, though, was the roasted butternut (from my own garden) with garlic and stuff.  Mmmmm.  Sorry, no picture of that dish!

  1. Great photos of some marvelous looking bread.
There is something quite heavenly about the smell of fresh bread. I used to make my own bread but it is an all day excursion for me and one needs to have a large freezer. It does make the house smell lovely.
There are so many kinds of bread too in the bakeries these days- You are making me hungry LOL
Hope all is well with you and yours.
    Warmest regards,
    Anna

garden panos from 2023

Last year, I made some effort (not thoroughly successful) to capture state-of-the-garden pictures every month, including panoramas stitched together on Photoshop, in order to get the whole view of what's happening.  So here's a little recap of the garden in 2023! early March April May June August It appears that I missed July, and either didn't take or didn't save this project in September, although we didn't have a killing frost very late into the season - we were still harvesting a few things in October.  As much as I loved the lettuce that was growing in the tunnel, and getting an early start on a few things, I'm not a fan of plastic anywhere, especially in my garden, so I am looking at options - cold boxes with old windows, etc.  I'm planning to start my 2024 garden this month - pea planting, planning, and seed starting in March!  What are you planting?

Thankfulness, 2023 edition
