Find of the Month

A reveal from yesterday's sneak peek:


Audrey guessed correctly, it is a clothespin bag!  When I spotted this fabric last week, I remembered a project I had torn out of Martha's Living awhile back - July 2002's Find of the Month.  I made these for my mom and mother-in-law for Mother's Day since they both use their clotheslines.  They both have the blue flowers on the outside; one has blue polka dots on the inside and the other with yellow polka dots.  I thought they'd be fun little gifts, and they were fun to make!  I couldn't find a link, apparently the M.S. archives don't go back that far, so luckily I easily found this in my crafts-for-someday file.  I took a picture of the project info for you so you can make your own.  It wasn't easy to find the clothesline hook in the big orange and blue store but it was quickly found in my small local hardware store. 







I reinforced the corners of the fabric (under the hook) with batting so hopefully they'll last awhile.  I bought three hooks so I could make one for myself even though I don't have a clothesline.  Yet.  I know you'll all want to make one of these so I hope you can get all the information you need by clicking on the photos.  If you need more, let me know! 

I thought it was funny that the hook said "not for sports equipment" although one of the pictures shows that!

    I thought it was a clothes pin holder, yours is so pretty and thanks for sharing the instructions! I am pretty sure I have seen one of those hook thingies around here somewhere.... now I know what to do with it. Thanks Karen I'm going to add your project to my to do list!!

    Wow...that's cute. Takes me back to the day I hung those "cloth diapers" on the line. Wish my tiny back yard had room for a clothes line. Love your photos.

    That is so cute! I was right!:) It makes me want to use a laundry line. I do love the way sheets smell after they have been in the sun all day. I may have to make one of these and go get a clothesline!

modular knitting

On the plus side, modular knitting gives one interesting options for colorwork and color blocking.  Sometimes the dye process can give the yarn its own commentary, like this changing of scales. However, there are often many more ends to weave in.  This one is not too bad, but there's at least four ends on every row - 14 rows.  Still, interesting to try something new! Details on my Ravelry page , if you are interested!!  Have you tried modular knitting?  Thumbs up or down??

Spring Means Baseball!

I've had this idea for a knitting pattern in my head and it's finally come to fruition!  I am still polishing up the pattern, but here's a quick peak:  PS:  There's more than one size and this one is too big for me but it was the only one I had "stitched up."
