Day in Denver

I spent the day with two of my boys, and a couple other kids, at the Day in Denver field trip.  There was lots of walking and we spent most of our time having lunch and at the Capitol building.  (Above, the inside of the dome.)  Despite the fact that the Senate session was closed, we met a senator in the elevator.  Since we had such a small group, we wandered around on our own, and a nice person let us go out on the balcony!  I was thrilled to realize I had spent most of the day walking around with my shirt buttoned wrong.  Ugh.  The woman who took us out on the balcony took a picture of our group out there and it's REALLY obvious that my shirt's crooked!

View from the balcony:

We were the only people at Union Station besides a couple of employees.  Maybe someday we'll take a train...

At the end of the day we stopped at a fountain to cool our feet, and The Bruise learned a new phrase, "my dogs are barking."

  1. Sounds like a great day and the weather cooperated. I remember doing that Denver Day with my daughter. We had fun. Tomorrow she will be 34! Yikes.

  3. That looks like a great day! The dome picture is awesome. What in the world does "my dogs are barking" mean? His feet are tired?

garden panos from 2023

Last year, I made some effort (not thoroughly successful) to capture state-of-the-garden pictures every month, including panoramas stitched together on Photoshop, in order to get the whole view of what's happening.  So here's a little recap of the garden in 2023! early March April May June August It appears that I missed July, and either didn't take or didn't save this project in September, although we didn't have a killing frost very late into the season - we were still harvesting a few things in October.  As much as I loved the lettuce that was growing in the tunnel, and getting an early start on a few things, I'm not a fan of plastic anywhere, especially in my garden, so I am looking at options - cold boxes with old windows, etc.  I'm planning to start my 2024 garden this month - pea planting, planning, and seed starting in March!  What are you planting?
